£7.4m AI upskilling fund will support SMEs
SMEs are being invited to submit an Expression of Interest for a £7.4m government pilot to encourage use of AI. Eligible small and medium sized businesses in the Professional Business Service sector could benefit from a subsidy of up to 50% of the cost of AI skills training to help businesses develop, deploy, or use AI. A competitive application exercise is expected to open on 1st May 2024.
The pilot was announced on 12th March as part of a £1.1bn package of measures that will allow thousands of people across the UK to train and gain qualifications in future tech like artificial intelligence as well as areas like medicine, 6G and quantum computing.
