Can we connect better on skills?
South Yorkshire employers and communities will benefit from easier access to skills, following the implementation of innovative new measures funded through a £2.5m Strategic Development Fund (SDF) grant from the Department for Education, supporting improvements to skills engagement, capacity and delivery. This means removing barriers to training for businesses.

These new ways of working are a result of a collaboration between education providers Barnsley College, DN College Group (Doncaster), RNN Group (Rotherham), the ARMC Training Centre, The Sheffield College, Northern College, Sheffield Hallam University and South Yorkshire Provider Network. This project is creating a more dynamic and responsive offer across South Yorkshire by:
Making the pathways training shorter with a single regional team to represent all skills providers;
Developing opportunities to influence the curriculum to deliver the skills needed for employment and growth;
Investing in training facilities and equipment to support state-of-the training for sectors such as digital, modern construction/manufacturing and sustainable technologies which support the move to a zero-carbon economy.
